This paper describes the first efforts to demonstrate energy pumping in the laboratory, using a 2-DOF test rig comprising a linear, SDOF primary system weakly coupled to a nonlinear energy sink (NES). Following a brief review of the parameters of the apparatus, we focus on the simulated and measured responses of the primary and sink subsystems.
