NONLINEAR DYNAMIC SINGLE PILE-SOIL INTERACTION ANALYSIS

Abstract eng:
Nonlinearities due to both strain-induced and pore water pressure induced softening are important aspects in dynamic pile-soil interaction. While the model of beam on Winkler foundation is widely used for its analysis, the above nonlinearities have not yet been satisfactorily represented. This paper presents a method to take into account those effects, in which soil response is expressed in terms of multiple steady state modal shape functions. By using adequate number of these steady-state shape functions, the time-domain response can be captured.
