A numerical method based on the predictor-corrector finite-difference scheme is developed. The porous-medium wave model is applied to simulate solitary waves propagating past a finite-thickness porous breakwater. The process of wave reflection and transmission is reasonably predicted. The predicted wave elevations show good agreement with other published numerical results. The propagation of cnoidal waves past a porous barrier is also studied. The periodic evolution of partially reflected and partially transmitted waves is presented to demonstrate the performance of the present porous-medium wave model.
