Selected reinforced concrete members (beam and short column) exposed to a permanent and two variable loads are considered. The alternative rules for load combinations provided in Eurocodes are supplemented by a new modified rule. Probabilistic models of basic variables are specified taking into account materials of JCSS. Characteristics of some basic variables (for example of model uncertainties) are, however, modified. Reliability analysis assumes time invariant models using the Turkstra’s rule (50 years extremes are assumed for the leading action, annual extremes for the accompanying action). Special purpose software tools are applied. Probabilistic analysis indicates that the use of reliability differentiation principles and reduced partial factors for materials properties accepted in current codes may, in some cases, lead to an insufficient reliability level. It appears that the calibration of proposed modifications of partial factors taking into account specific features of various reinforced concrete members is needed.
