RELIABILITY OF REINFORCED CONCRETE BRIDGE DECKS WITH RESPECT TO INGRESS OF CHLORIDES

The effect of cracking on ch1oride ingress into bridge decks with epoxy-coated reinforcing stee1 is studied. A f1nite e1ement diffusion mode1 in conJunction with probabi1istic method termed Simu1ation-Based Re1iabi1ity Assessment (SBRA) is used to address the inherent randomness of input variab1es. The effect of epoxy-coating and diffusion coeff1cient on the ch1oride ingress into bridge decks with protected reinforcing stee1 is studied with respect to corrosion initiation 1ike1ihood.
