VARIABILIST MULTILEVEL STRATEGY FOR COMPOSITE STRUCTURES

Abstract eng:
Thanks to their high specific properties and to their capacities to integrate multifunctional capabilities (thermal or phonic), sandwich materials are potential candidates to realize aeronautical structures such as fuselage. However, due to their specific architecture and to their manufacturing process including manual phases, these materials are particularly subjected to uncertainties. This is the reason why it seems essential to take into account all the uncertain parameters in order to increase the robustness of the modelling. We propose in this study an approach of transport of uncertainty based on the use of MetaModels (MM). One of the characteristics of this work is to associate, to these MM, some indicators of the quality of the approximation. This approach is associated to a multilevel computational strategy in order to treat industrial cases. A first example concerns the study of the rupture of a sandwich beam subjected to a three-point bending test. The second example is devoted to an industrial case that concerns a curved open-hole sandwich panel subjected to complex loading.
