The collapse fragilities determined are examined from the standpoint of the context of the inter-story drift limits stipulated in FEMA 356/ASCE 41-05. The probability of collapse, conditioned on the maximum considered earthquake, and the collapse margins of these typical shear walls are compared with those implied by the requirements in ASCE Standard 7-05. The results of this study provide insights into the relation between the current design earthquake, as stipulated in ASCE Standard 7-05, and proposed performance levels in PBE of light-frame wood construction, and convey implications for residential building risk assessment.
