First, dynamic tests are conducted on masonry wall elements, and basic dynamic properties are found. Next, a numerical model is formulated using micro-modeling technique, where constituent materials (bricks and reinforcing steel elements) are modeled as separate entities. The model is verified by analyzing the experimental wall models. Then simulation models of various wall elements are built and analyzed. Based on the analyses results a macro-model of a real size structure is built and analyzed for strong ground motion records. We found that the SRB-DUP structure shows quite strong seismic resistance.
