Reliability of non-linear systems subjected to dynamic excitation
Abstract eng: Most structures react to exceptionally high forces caused for example by extreme winds, sea waves, earthquakes, avalanches, etc. in a non-linear way before they finally collapse. The damage of the structure caused by these excitation is closely connected with the amount of accumulated hysteretic energy dissipation. These mostly environmental load- ings cause dynamic excitations which might be suitably represented by so called stochastic processes.
