Overall Buckling Prevention Condition of Buckling-Restrained Braces as a Structural Control Damper
Abstract eng: One of the required performances in buckling-restrained braces as a structural control damper under severe earthquakes is to prevent its overall buckling, i.e., Euler-type buckling of both the brace and restraining members as a whole. This paper deals with an examination into the adequacy of the commonly used buckling prevention condition with a series of well-controlled experiments. Moreover, a design guideline for the buckling prevention condition is discussed.
