Damage Patterns and Failure Mechanisms of Bridge Pile Foundation under Earthquake
Abstract eng: This paper gives a briefly summary on seismic damage of bridge pile foundations from major earthquakes since 1960s. The typical damage patterns and causes of pile foundation failure with no liquefaction-induced and liquefaction–induced are discussed. Some commentaries and protection measures on seismic design of pile foundation are also given in this paper.
