Experimental assessment of the utilisation of corrugated cardboard as a core material for sandwich panels

Abstract eng:
Sandwich panels became well-established in industrial structures within the last 25 years. They are light weight, cost efficient and provide a complete building envelope. Common core materials have several problems and thus new core materials have to be found. Corrugated card board is low-cost, ecological, easy to recycle and has good insulation characteristics. The aim of this research project is to assess the utilisation of corrugated card board as a new core material for sandwich panels in building industries. In this paper the so far conducted experimental investigations are presented and an outlook on future approach are given.
