Wave modeling by a direct discrete formulation

Abstract eng:
Wave modeling algorithms are usually formulated by using the differential form of the governing equations, from which the required discrete, or algebraic, formulation is derived. This discretization process of the differential equations can be avoided by starting directly from the experimental laws and expressing them on specific grids which leads to their discrete form. Furthermore, this direct formulation can be immediately used for the implementation of computational codes.
