A monte carlo based method for prediction of extreme response statistics of uncertain structures

Abstract eng:
In this paper, we propose a method for estimation of the extreme statistical response of a beam with different boundary conditions. The material properties, Young’s modulus and density, of beam are considered to be random and time-invariant. The beam is subjected to an external stochastic load. The response of the beam is obtained using Abaqus for an ensemble of samples. One of the key quantities in statistical extremes is the mean upcrossing rates. The results clearly show that the proposed method can be applicable for beams with spatial randomness.
