Dynamic Analysis of Soil-Structure Interaction At High-Tech Facility

MAX-lab is a national synchrotron radiation laboratory in Lund, south of Sweden. Nowadays, the Max project consists of three storage rings; Max I, Max II and Max III. A new storage ring is needed to improve material science, such as nanotechnology, and advancement in medicine research. The new storage ring will have a circumference of approximately 500 m, [1]. The quality of the measurements at the MAX IV ring will be dependent on the precision of the synchrotron light where, in particular, a very strict requirement regarding the vibration levels of the magnets is specified. This requirement on the mean vertical vibration level is that it must be less than 26 nm during one second in the frequency span of 5-100 Hz. The MAX IV building will mainly be constituted of a concrete floor structure that is built on soil consisting of mostly clay till.
