Drug Transport in Anterior Human Eye after Subconjunctival and Episcleral Implants

Abstract eng:
This paper numerically investigates the diffusive and convective transport of subconjunctivally and episclerally implanted drugs in the anterior segment of human eyes. Effects of implant location and orientation of the eye are analyzed. The results can help to understand drug transport processes in the anterior human eye, and improve the drug delivery efficacy in clinical treatment of anterior eye diseases.
