A Reduced Control-Oriented Model for Quasi One-Dimensional Flow in Area Varying Channels


Abstract eng:
The aim of this study is to provide a reduced control-oriented model for transient, non-isothermal, quasi one-dimensional gas flow inside channels of varying cross-sectional area. The orthogonal collocation method is applied to transform the governing system of PDEs to an equivalent system of ODEs utilizing symbolic computations; the derived ODEs are then solved using a numerical integrator. This study can be applied to the flow of ideal gases in channels, ducts, engine manifolds, etc...
