Rivulets formation during transition to 3D wave regime in isothermal liquid film


Abstract eng:
Results of experimental study of transition processes from two-dimensional to three-dimensional wave regimes for the case of isothermal falling liquid film are presented. Instantaneous and time-averaged fihn thickness fields are obtained and analyzed. It is shown that the process of transition to the three-dimensional wave motion is accompanied by formation of rivulets and that the downflow evolution of the rivulets usually has non-monotonic character.
