Discharge Flow of a Granular Media from a Silo: Effect of the Packing Fraction and of the Geometry

Abstract eng:
We present experimental results on discharge of a rectangular silo. We varied two main parameters: the geometry of the silo, and the bulk packing fraction of the granular material. The results are discussed on the base of a physical model proposed by Janda et al. [1], which has been modified to predict the the flow rate of bi-dipserse mixtures and different geometric hopper configurations.
