Continuum description of Sirmas-Radulescu shock wave instability in dissipative gases


Abstract eng:
Euler and Navier-Stokes simulations are performed to look at the problem of piston driven shock waves through granular gases undergoing viscoelastic collisions. The shock structure predicted by the continuum formulation is found in good agreement with the structure obtained by MD.
