Propagation of elastic waves in cyllindrically structured cancellous bones

Abstract eng:
A new theoretical approach to describe the propagation of elastic waves in fluid-saturated porous bones is proposed. We use the asymptotic homogenisation method and the Floquet-Bloch theory. As an illustrative example, anti-plane shear waves in a cylindrically structured cancellous bone are considered. The effects of damping and scattering are predicted and numerical results are given.
