Energy absorption of a novel self-locked tube system

Abstract eng:
This paper studies the energy absorption of a novel self-locked energy absorbing system and compares the performance of the selflocked system with that of round tube systems. Lateral splashing can reduce the energy absorption of round tube systems. Due to effective selflocking, the energy absorption of the self-locked system are found to be significantly higher than that of the round tube systems.
