Estimation of shear stress in machining using the temperature distribution on the tool face


Abstract eng:
Given an experimentally determined discrete set of steady-state temperature measurements along the region of contact of the work material with the rake face of the tool, an inverse method is used to obtain an estimate of the shear stress in the work material near the toolmaterial interface.
