Highly deployable multifunctional cellular structures with hierarchy


Abstract eng:
In the present work we propose a new class of cellular structures with square and triangular grids, which are capable of dramatic but controlled shape and size change through alteration of their underlying topological hierarchy. This high degree of geometrical change can yield a correspondingly wide bracket of mechanical and multifunctional behavior of these structures.
