Experimental investigation of space-time correlation in the atmospheric surface layer

We investigated the space-time correlation of streamwise velocity in the high Reynolds number atmospheric surface layer (ASL) using multipoint synchronous field observation array. The experimental results show that the iso-correlation contours of space-time correlations have an elliptical shapes rather than straight lines, which suggests that, instead of Taylor hypothesis, the elliptic model [1] is more suitable for describing the space-time correlation for the streamwise velocity in the ASL.
