Kelvin-Helmholtz instability in compressible shear flows: Effect of wavenumber

Abstract eng:
Kelvin-Helmholtz (KH) instability is central to shear flow mixing and is known to be suppressed in compressible flows. The objective of this work is to investigate the effect of perturbation wavenumber on the degree of suppression of the KH instability in highspeed shear flows. We demonstrate that the degree of suppression decreases with increasing the initial perturbation wavenumbers.
