Turbulent rotating convection: A Lagrangian perspective


Abstract eng:
We measure flow tracer trajectories in turbulent rotating convection using both experiments and direct numerical simulations. This Lagrangian viewpoint provides unique possibilities for diagnostics. We present tracer acceleration statistics and geometrical statistics of the trajectories, both displaying an intimate relation with the coherent structures found in this flow.
