Numerical simulations of capillary thin film flows under hyperbolic CFL conditions
Abstract eng: In this note, we introduce a new extended formulation of the so-called Euler-Korteweg equations. This formulation allows to design a numerical scheme with entropy stability property under a hyperbolic CFL condition in the multi-dimensional setting. We apply this strategy to perform fast and accurate numerical simulations of capillary thin films. We focus on the roll-wave phenomenon and wet-dry front both modeled by the shallow water equations with surface tension.
