Influence of nozzle shape on the break-up of non-newtonian ink jets

Abstract eng:
The present work consists in an experimental study of the influence of nozzle shape onto the break-up of ink jets. Experimental data are obtained using a Continuous Ink Jet printing device and three low-viscosity inks. Several nozzle dimensions and shapes are investigated for different stimulation amplitudes. Droplet and satellites dynamics as well as jet break-up lengths for each fluid are compared and discussed with the numerical nozzle velocity profiles.
