Extreme-Scale Motions in Turbulent Couette Flows


Abstract eng:
The direct numerical simulation of turbulent plane Couette flows are performed at up to Ref % 500 to investigate the existence of distinct large scale motion in streamwise direction. 1007n3 long simulation domain is used in streamwise direction. It is shown that there is extremely large scale motions exists in moderately high Re Couette flows and the scale of motions is strongly Re dependent.
