Bifurcations in rotating plane Couette flow at moderate Reynolds numbers


Abstract eng:
Bifurcations in rotating plane Couette flow are investigated when the Reynolds number, R, is relatively small. We clarified the role of the second wavy vortex flow, called Ribbon, in the parameter space. In addition, a new type of tertiary flow with the symmetry classified as 42/3 in Nagata (1986) is discovered.
