On the effects of cavitation in hydrogel-based structures

Abstract eng:
Cavitation is often observed in soft materials. Many studies focused on cavitation in elastomers, and more recently also in hydrogels, where drying–induced cavitation can determine fractures. In this paper, we investigate cavitation in hydrogel–based structures with the aim to highlight the physical principles which drive a few unique mechanisms in Nature world, which view cavitation as a tool to generate fast movements.
