Unifying different measurements of dynamic friction

Abstract eng:
A regularised version of the Dieterich-Ruina rate and state friction law gives promising results towards a general constitutive law of dynamic friction. A pin-on-disc rig for producing a frictional frequency response is used in this work to reproduce a number of different frictional measurements. The regularised rate and state law provides a good fit to these results and the model parameters show sensitivity in accordance with their physical interpretations.
