The system of indenters sliding over the viscoelastic half- space

Sliding contacts of a system of indenters, or the indenter in the presence of additional loads outside of the contact regions, over a viscoelastic half space are considered. The solutions of the formulated 3-D contact problems are based on BEM and iteration procedure. The results of numerical calculations are used to analyse the influence of the distance between the contact sports and sliding velocity on pressure distribution and on the friction force. PROBLEM FORMULATION In studies of contact characteristics and friction of bodies with rough surfaces it is very important to take into account the mutual effect of contact spots. Solutions of the contact problems for a system of indenters and periodic contact problems are widely used to analyse this effect [1]. This paper presents two types of 3-D contact problems for the viscoelastic half-space taken into account the interaction between indenters. The mechanical behavior of the viscoelastic half-space for both cases is described by the following constitutive equation:
