Appearance of dislocations multiplication in the dynamics of elastic-plastic waves in solids

Abstract eng:
Information about resistance of materials to inelastic deformation at strain rates more than 104 s'1 is obtained by means of analysis of an evolution of plane shock waves in studied materials. In the course of such study, we observed some features of profiles of elastic-plastic waves which were not expected and are not described by existing theories. The presentation will summarize these exotic effects with the goal to stimulate development of a theory of wave dynamics in relaxing media.
