Design of co-continuous composite materials using 3d printing technique

Abstract eng:
Co-continuous polymer composite materials are designed and fabricated using 3d printing technique. Compression and 3 point bending tests are performed to achieve stiffness, strength and energy absorption abilities. The experimental results will be compared to the simulation results and to validate and improve the design of structures. The co-continuity of the structures contains cracking and spreads of the plastic deformation leading to enhancements of energy dissipation, which also provides damage tolerance of the co-continuous composites.
