Steady State Kink Band Broadening in Layered Materials


Abstract eng:
Theoretical predictions of steady state kink band broadening in compressed layered materials are compared to numerical calculations using the finite element method. Numerical predictions of infinite kink band formation and evolution follow a scheme in which a thin slice of material with individually discretized fiber and matrix layers are subject to periodic boundary conditions.
