Influence of martensitic phase transformation on crack propagation in austenitic steel


Abstract eng:
In this work, the influence of martensitic phase transformation on crack propagation is investigated. A continuum model, developed for austenitic steel, that accounts for phase transformation is combined with a cohesive zone model. Simulations have been performed at different ambient temperatures and using different formulations of the cohesive zone model.
