Nonlinear rotor motion: Influence of thrust bearings on subsynchronous oscilations

Abstract eng:
A nonlinear automotive turbocharger rotor/bearing system is considered, and this work is focused on the influence of the thrust bearing on the nonlinear, self-excited rotor vibrations. To investigate dynamically loaded thrust bearings, run-up simulations based on a fully-coupled model are performed. Of special interest is the effect of the elastic deformation of the thrust bearing.
