Internal stresses in deformation-induced microstructures

Abstract eng:
Crystal FE computations are carried out to evaluate back and forward stresses in deformation-induced microstructures made of soft channels and hard walls. The computed mean phase values and profiles are close to the measured ones, showing that PSB and cell backstresses amount to 10-20% of the remote stresses whereas vein/channel ones are negligible. The plasticity behaviour in walls is taken into account based on DD computation results. Consequences in terms of maximum stable dipole height, crystal kinematic hardening and similitude laws are finally discussed.
