Recent Developments in Discontinuous Wave Propagation Algorithms: There Is Plenty Room for Improving Second-Order Methods

Abstract eng:
Over the past several years, researchers went for higher-order methods in search of more accurate wave tracking algorithms. In the present talk, we report that there is plenty room for improving time and age proved second-order algorithms as reported in recent work [1-3]. In order to demonstrate the filter characteristics, a discrete filter concept is applied to reveal intrinsic characteristics of secondorder algorithms and compared with higher-order algorithms. We then show that our second-order algorithms preserve the basic one-dimensional filter properties for multi-dimensional problems provided the governing equations are partitioned into stress component-wise equations.
