Creation of the stable elastic loop
Abstract eng: Paper deals with conditions of creation of the loop from a slender prismatic elastic beam loaded by torsional moments at its free ends. The loop occurs by achieving postcritical state of the beam. For this purpose very large displacements have to be considered. The problem is solved by dynamical simulation of discrete nonlinear model obtained by the physical discretization of the continuous beam. There are four qualitative different steady states, which can be obtained by the simulation.
