Performance assessment of concrete bridge deck applying SBRA approach and fem model with regard to chloride ingress

Abstract eng:
The effect of cracks on the chloride ingress into bridge decks with epoxy-coated reinforcing steel is studied. A finite element diffusion model in conjunction with a probabilistic method called Simulation-Based Reliability Assessment (SBRA) is used to address the inherited randomness of input variables. Data used for diffusion coefficients and concrete cover depths are based on a study performed on North Eastern the bridges in the U.S.A. and reported in (SOHANGHPURWALA & SCANNELL, 1994).
