The experimental investigation of the influence of the flow swirl and the tip clearance jet on aerodynamic characteristics of exhaust hoods

Abstract eng:
The paper presents the main results of the experimental investigation aimed at reduction of losses in the exhaust hood of steam turbines. The effects of the inlet flow swirl, the tangential blowing-up of the additional steam flow on the wall of diffuser and the last stage moving-blades tip clearance jet were taken into account. Great attentian was paid to the exhaust hood design with the radial rib in the upper part of the casing. The optimal design of rib was experimentaly investigated.
