Deterministic and probabilistic analysis of ventilating concrete chimney reliability during earthquake


Abstract eng:
In this paper, the deterministic and probability analysis of the seismic resistance of the reinforced concrete structure of the nuclear power plants ventilating chimney, considering the nonlinear reserve of the structure under the seismic load of the reinforced concrete is presented. Simple and detailed solutions on the base of the „pipe“ beam and shell elements are considered. The deterministic and the probability approaches are compared. Advantages and disadvantages of both methods are mentioned. The applicability of probabilistic approach to the solution of reliability of such structures is demonstrated, using the example of ventilating chimney of the nuclear power plant.
