Aeroelastic balance for tall building model tests

Abstract eng:
An aeroelastic balance has served as an effective tool for the response prediction of tall buildings. A three-degree of freedom aeroelastic balance were designed and manufactured. Model tests of the stiff building model and the aeroelastic balance system were performed in a boundary layer wind tunnel. The mean and standard deviation of base bending moments were presented as a function of the wind direction. Root-mean-square coefficients of base bending moments were calculated from the response of the Shiran Tower building in the period of strong winds and compared with the results of the model tests.
