On application of distributions to computations of open cross-section thin-walled beams

Abstract eng:
The generalized mathematical model of thin-walled beams with warpable cross-section introduced in (Hý a, 2005) represents a consistent smalldisplacement theory for coupled bending and torsion of open cross-section thinwalled beams, which are subjected to general distributed loading. However, this model does not cover directly concentrated loading. This paper presents a new generalization of this model by means of distributions to involve concentrated loading. The derived system of ordinary differential equations (SODE) of the first order contains twelve unknown quantities and Dirac distribution at each point where discontinuity of an unknown quantity occurs. The general solution to the SODE is computed by means of the symbolic programming approach.
