Calibration of constitutive model for trabecular bone based on nanoindentation

Abstract eng:
The paper deals with investigation of trabecular bone behaviour using micromechanical Finite Element models of its inner structure. Material properties of the μFE models are assessed using nanoindentation test. The material properties are then used in the FE simulations of behaviour of trabecular bone under uniaxial loading. Two different plasticity criteria are tested, namely von Mises and Drucker-Prager. Von Mises criterium is extended bilinear isotropic hardening. Constants needed for numerical material model are obtained from fitting procedure of experimetal load-displacement curve.
