COMPUTATIONAL ANALYSIS OF WIND FLOW AND POLLUTANT DISPERSION IN AN URBAN STREET CANYON

Abstract eng:
Wind flow and pollutant dispersion pattern in street canyon are investigated numerically with respect to different geometric configurations such as canyon width, height and width combination using composite domain applied in the computational system. Higher pollutant retention value is obtained in narrow streets of aspect ratio larger than 1. It is also found that canopies of different heights have a higher pollutant retention value than that of identical height. In addition canyon of height over width ratio of 1 displays a minimum pollutant retention value and that the building width serves to retard the flow, associates with the progressive increment of retention value.
