Issues at tool clamping systems

Abstract eng:
Various types of tooling clamping systems are used at design of machine tools. The typical representatives of clamping systems are CAPTO, ISO, UTS, HSK and other ones. Their design type execution, clamping principles and tool centring are different ones. Disadvantages can be seen most of all only during the machine operation. It can happen under usual operation conditions, but even more often under specific operation conditions, that e. g. the tool can be removed from the machine tool spindle only with big difficulties. This matter can be prevented by modification of operation conditions, by modification of applied design type execution at machine spindles, by adaptation of the tool part being clamped, etc. Whether the proposed modifications and adaptations are useful and which contribution they bring, this can be best evaluated on the basis of the problem analysis, using the technical calculations and tests. Properties and behaviors of the mechanical system, i. e. of the tool clamping device can be manifested by calculation modelling. This contribution describes numerical analysis of the ISO tool shank in the machine tool spindle without load and under operation load.
